Building More Than a Hen House: Why Your Support Matters
At this year’s West Moors Classic Car & Bike Show, we’re not just showcasing stunning vehicles and bringing the community together — we’re also raising money for something truly meaningful.
We’re fundraising for a new hen house, but this is far more than just a shelter for chickens. This is about creating opportunities, building confidence, and enriching lives — especially for the adults with varying support needs who are at the heart of everything we do.
Real Skills, Real Purpose
Caring for animals is a big part of our day-to-day life at Sturts Community Trust and Gullivers. From feeding and collecting eggs to mucking out and maintaining coops, the daily routine around hen care teaches responsibility, patience, and pride in meaningful work.
A new hen house means we can expand our flock, which allows more people to take part in this therapeutic and rewarding work. It becomes a place not just for chickens — but for growth, skill-building, and purpose.
A Space to Thrive
Many of the individuals we support thrive through hands-on, outdoor learning. A dedicated new hen house provides a calm, structured space where they can:
Gain experience in animal care
Build confidence through routine
Develop teamwork and independence
Contribute directly to our farm shop with the eggs they help collect
From Coop to Community
The eggs produced go straight into our Gullivers Farm Shop — and every egg sold represents more than just a breakfast ingredient. It represents a job well done, a contribution to the local economy, and an act of inclusion.
By supporting this fundraising project, you’re helping create opportunities for learning, responsibility, and community connection.
Thank You for Being Part of It
We’re so grateful for everyone who’s attending, donating, and helping to spread the word. Whether you’re buying a ticket, bringing your car, or sharing our campaign — you’re part of something bigger.
Together, we’re building more than a hen house. We’re building a future where everyone has the chance to belong, to contribute, and to grow.
