Why Visiting Gullivers Farm Shop & Kitchen Is a Little Bit Different (and a Whole Lot More Meaningful)

A kitchen apprentice working hard in Gullivers Kitchen

At first glance, Gullivers might look like your typical farm shop and kitchen. We’ve got the delicious homecooked food, fresh produce, friendly faces, and countryside charm you’d expect. But if you take a moment to look a little closer, you’ll notice something special happening here — something you don’t get everywhere.

Because we’re not your average hospitality venue.

We’re a working social enterprise, and everything we do is centred around the people we support — adults with learning disabilities, autism, and varying support needs. They’re not just part of what we do. They’re at the heart of it.

Service with Purpose (and Sometimes a Little Patience)

When you visit Gullivers, you might find that your coffee takes a little longer than usual to arrive. Your cake may be served by someone who’s still learning which table is which (especially if the picnic benches have been moved around — yes, we notice!). And occasionally, your coffee plate might arrive with a small, unintentional spillage on the side.

But every one of those moments is a sign that someone is being given the opportunity to grow.

We take time to support, guide, and walk alongside the people we work with. That means we don’t rush. We teach, we encourage, and we allow space for learning — even if it takes an extra five minutes to toast that sourdough.

Fresh Food, Real Training, Big Smiles

Almost everything on your plate has been made from scratch — not just because it tastes better, but because it’s a chance for someone to be part of the process. Whether it’s baking cakes in the morning, serving drinks to your table, or learning how to use the till, every step is part of someone’s journey toward independence and confidence.

Yes, it might not always be flawless. But it’s full of heart.

Thank You for Being Part of It!

When you choose to eat here, shop here, or simply stop for a cuppa, you’re doing more than supporting local. You’re backing a different kind of hospitality — one where people come first, not profits.

Your patience, your kindness, and your smile when something isn’t quite perfect mean more than you know. They tell someone: you matter, and you’re doing great.

So thank you for being here. Thank you for coming back. And thank you for believing in what we do.

Because at Gullivers, we don’t just serve food — we serve futures.
